Green and Live Sessions 24 this Thursday will be the last of this monthly series of gigs showcasing the best in Irish upcoming bands run by Live 95FM’s Alan Jacques in conjunction with his radio show of the same name. Happening in the intimate and comfortable surroundings of Dolans upstairs venue, the Green and Live sessions became a vital part of Limerick’s gigging calendar putting on stage three new bands with the high production values associated with the venue for FREE once a month. I asked Alan for his highlights from the sessions, “I’m proud to say that we’ve had some of the very best new bands in the country play the Green and Live Session gigs over the last two years. Personal favourites have included RSAG (Rarely Seen Above Ground), Story of Hair, Heritage Centre, Green Lights, Zealots and John Shelly And The Creatures. But there’s been so many really. Windings played a really memorable set at one of the earlier shows and also some of the other local acts such as Walter Mitty and the Realists, Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters and Laminate Reno put on performances that were equally impressive. There’s so much great Irish music out there at the minute and I’m glad to have been able to give some of these acts their very first Limerick gigs,’’ says Green and Live presenter Alan Jacques.
